Tekcapital reports record first half as Vesari valuation boosts portfolio

Tekcapital (LSE:TEK) delivered a record first-half performance for 2026, with net assets climbing to US$201.7 million and profit after tax increasing to US$144.8 million. The sharp improvement was driven primarily by higher valuations across its investment portfolio rather than realised cash returns. During the period, the intellectual property investment group also kept a tight grip on costs, lowered operating expenses and completed a US$2 million capital raise to support future growth while maintaining a lean operating structure.

The largest contributor to portfolio growth was Vesari Inc., in which Tekcapital acquired a 51% interest in May. Vesari’s geothermal-powered, carbon-free AI data centre intellectual property portfolio received an independent valuation of approximately US$293 million, while preliminary discussions with capital markets participants are already under way. Elsewhere in the portfolio, Microsalt achieved triple-digit revenue growth and entered into a joint development agreement with a global food company, Innovative Eyewear continued to deliver record sales while receiving further industry recognition, GenIP expanded its AI-powered intellectual property services, and Guident secured additional growth funding as it continued preparations for a planned public market listing.

Despite the strong increase in reported net assets, the investment outlook remains mixed. Financial performance continues to be affected by declining revenue, inconsistent profitability and ongoing negative operating and free cash flow. Technical indicators also remain weak, with the shares trading below key moving averages in a sustained downtrend. Valuation offers only limited support, as the company continues to report a negative price-to-earnings ratio and does not currently provide a meaningful dividend yield.
