Airbus (EU:AIR), through its Airbus Cybersecurity SAS subsidiary, has been awarded a 25-year contract to provide cybersecurity gateways for networks operated by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces and Veterans’ Affairs.
The contract, known as PARACOM, was awarded by France’s General Directorate for Armament (DGA) following a competitive tender process.
It covers the design, development and production of the cybersecurity gateways, as well as their operational maintenance over the duration of the agreement.
Gateways to Connect Networks With Different Classification Levels
The gateways are designed to enable filtered data exchanges between networks and information systems operating at different security classification levels.
Airbus said the systems will be certified to handle exchanges involving data classified between “secret” and “unclassified” levels.
The gateways are expected to be deployed across the French armed forces as well as directorates and departments within the Ministry.
Systems Designed for Data Centres and Tactical Environments
Airbus will provide the gateways in several configurations depending on their intended operating environment.
Versions will include systems designed for integration into data centre racks and deployment at command posts.
Other configurations will be intended for tactical environments, including surface vessels, submarines, aircraft, helicopters, drones, armoured vehicles and other land vehicles.
François Lombard, Director of Connected Intelligence at Airbus Defence and Space, said the contract builds on the company’s existing work with the French military.
“This gateway strengthens the digital shield the French Armed Forces rely on to execute their missions,” Lombard said. “Since 2013, we have supplied French land forces with gateway solutions.”
