First Class Metals (LSE:FCM) has signed a non-binding letter of intent to participate as an industry adopter in an artificial intelligence-enabled exploration initiative at its Sunbeam project in northwest Ontario, Canada.
The initiative, known as Project Field-to-Insight, is led by Rosor Exploration under CENGN’s Living Lab programme and will use data collected from an ongoing drone-based magnetic, radiometric and LiDAR survey over Sunbeam Block A.
The project is intended to compare AI-based data processing with conventional exploration methods. According to First Class Metals, the work will assess whether the technology can reduce the time between survey data collection and exploration decisions from weeks to days.
The planned programme will run for 12 months. First Class Metals will contribute to establishing performance criteria and evaluating areas including data quality, confidence in interpretations and the identification of anomalies.
The company also plans to integrate datasets produced by Rosor with results from its own VLF electromagnetic surveys and geochemical sampling at Sunbeam. The combined information will be used to develop the project’s exploration model and assist with target identification and ranking.
As the letter of intent is non-binding, the proposed collaboration remains subject to the terms and progression of the planned project.
