Paris Bourse

European stock markets advanced on Friday, extending gains from the previous session as stronger corporate earnings and declining global bond yields supported investor sentiment. The latest increases followed Thursday’s trading, when regional equities reached their highest levels in more than two weeks.

Technology shares recovered some of their recent losses, while positive company announcements provided support across aerospace, industrial manufacturing and renewable energy stocks.

AI also featured prominently in discussions at the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank.

Eurozone Inflation Rises to 3.8% in September

Currency markets remained relatively stable, with the euro trading close to unchanged against the US dollar over the week.

Preliminary economic figures showed that annual inflation in the eurozone accelerated to 3.8% in September, compared with 3.2% in August.

The increase highlighted continued inflationary pressures across the currency bloc, even as global government bond yields eased.

Lower bond yields can support equity valuations by reducing the discount rates applied to expected future corporate earnings.

Nevertheless, the latest inflation figures remain relevant to expectations surrounding European monetary policy.
