Halfords (LSE:HFD) has reaffirmed its full-year profit expectations after reporting a 7.1% increase in like-for-like sales during the first half of its 2027 financial year, supported by demand for seasonal products over the summer.

For the 26 weeks ended 2 October, the motoring and cycling retailer recorded a 7.7% increase in retail like-for-like sales. Within the retail division, motoring sales rose 7.3%, while cycling sales increased 8.3% on a comparable basis.

The company’s autocentres division also reported growth, with like-for-like sales advancing 6.1% during the period.

Halfords attributed part of the first-half performance to demand for seasonal categories during the warmer summer months, which contributed to sales growth across its retail operations.

Following the trading update, the company maintained its guidance for underlying pre-tax profit of between £55 million and £65 million for the financial year ending in 2027.

Henry Birch, chief executive of Halfords, commented on the first-half performance:

“The business continued to perform positively through the first half as we benefited from good execution against our strategic priorities and strong sales of seasonal categories through the warm summer weather.

“We move into the second half with confidence and look forward to sharing more detail on our progress at our interim results announcement later next month.”

Halfords expects to provide further information on its financial and operational performance when it publishes its interim results next month.
