Georgina Energy Plc (LSE:GEX) has reported further progress towards drilling at its Hussar EP513 helium, hydrogen and natural gas project in Western Australia, confirming the procurement of wellhead equipment and preparations for mobilisation of its contracted drilling rig.
The company has placed an order with specialist manufacturer Cactus Wellhead for equipment required for the planned drilling programme and has notified Ensign regarding mobilisation of the Ensign 970 rig.
All civil engineering and site preparation work at Hussar has been completed, with contractors and equipment subsequently demobilised from the location.
Road Improvements Support Drilling Rig Mobilisation
Georgina Energy said additional improvements had been completed along the Eagle Highway route, connecting the Mangkili turn-off on the Gunbarrel Highway with the Hussar wellsite.
The company continues to assess alternative transport routes to accommodate heavy drilling equipment, following weather-related road restrictions affecting access to the project.
Consulting engineers Aztech Well Construction and Ingenua are evaluating a potential route through Leonora, using the Great Central Road and David Carnegie Highway before connecting with the Eagle Highway.
Light vehicle access to the project remains available through roads administered by Wiluna Shire Council, while arrangements for heavier equipment continue to be developed.
The company said the safe transportation of personnel and equipment remains a priority, with further information on rig mobilisation and a revised drilling commencement date to be announced.
Security fencing has also been installed around the wellsite and lined water storage pond to prevent wildlife from entering the operational area.
Seismic Survey Applications Submitted to Regulators
Alongside preparations for drilling, Georgina Energy has submitted formal applications for a proposed seismic survey at Hussar to Western Australia’s Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration.
The programme will use lightweight seismic equipment designed to minimise environmental disturbance and avoid the need for heavy vehicle access.
Fieldwork is expected to take approximately 30 days, subject to receiving the necessary regulatory approvals and Traditional Owner cultural heritage permissions.
The company said these approvals were anticipated shortly.
Georgina Energy is also finalising the survey budget, with funding expected to be provided by Harlequin Energy.
The seismic programme is intended to support further geological evaluation of the Hussar prospect as the company advances its exploration and development plans.
Hussar Prospective Resources Include Helium, Hydrogen and Natural Gas
An independent geological report dated February 1, 2026, estimated net attributable unrisked 2U prospective resources at Hussar of 283 billion cubic feet of helium, 315 billion cubic feet of hydrogen and 2.93 trillion cubic feet of hydrocarbon gas.
The estimates were prepared under the Society of Petroleum Engineers Petroleum Resources Management System framework.
Using assumed commodity prices, Georgina Energy has calculated a combined potential unrisked in-situ value of approximately US$152 billion for the estimated resources.
However, the figure represents a theoretical valuation of hydrocarbons and gases in place rather than an estimate of recoverable revenue or project value.
It excludes production, processing, separation and transportation costs, and there is no certainty that the estimated resources will be commercially recovered.
Further drilling and technical evaluation will be required to establish the extent and commercial viability of the prospect.
Management Maintains Focus on Drilling Programme
Chief Executive Anthony Hamilton said the wellhead equipment order and preparations for rig mobilisation represented further progress towards the planned exploration programme.
He noted that the developments followed the completion of civil engineering and site preparation activities at Hussar.
Hamilton said the company’s priority remained drilling the prospect and evaluating its helium, hydrogen and natural gas potential as part of its longer-term development plans.
Georgina Energy expects to provide additional updates on transport arrangements, rig mobilisation and the revised drilling start date as preparations continue.
